An insert that only works inside the frame means the whole playard has to move, and it will not.

Bassinet inserts with no published weight limit. This is the lowest-limit component in the product. A brand that will not state it is asking you to guess about an infant sleep surface.
Inclined sleepers of any kind. See the callout — this is a specific, published safety position, not a preference.

What is the weight limit on a pack and play bassinet?
Where brands publish it, the figures cluster around 18 to 20 lb: 4moms publishes 18 lb for its Breeze bassinet, and Baby Delight publishes 20 lb or five months for its standalone rocking bassinet. Several major brands do not publish a bassinet limit at all on their product pages, which is why we flag it as a gap rather than filling it in.
How long will a baby use the bassinet stage?
At an 18 to 20 lb limit, most babies are out of it somewhere between four and seven months — and often sooner, because rolling over ends bassinet use regardless of weight. Check the manufacturer's stated limit for rolling as well as for weight.
Is the bassinet insert safe for overnight sleep?
A bassinet that conforms to the relevant safety standard, used with the firm flat pad it shipped with and a fitted sheet and nothing else, is one of the surfaces the AAP names as appropriate. What is not safe is an inclined bassinet, or one with soft bedding added — the AAP specifies a surface with an incline of no more than 10 degrees.
Do I need the bassinet at all?
It is a convenience rather than a necessity: a newborn can sleep in the playard floor itself. What the bassinet buys you is height — reaching a baby at 22 in off the floor rather than bending into a deep playard, which at 3am on the fourth night of a trip is worth real money.
